Chelsea to go back in with a £7 million bid for Azpilicueta

Chelsea are weighing up a second offer of around £7 million to land Spanish right back, Cesar Azpilicueta.

After having their first £5.4 million offer turned down by Marseille, the next offer is said to be worth nearer to £9 million once appearance bonuses are added.

Marseille have stated that they need the money after a recent slump and are willing to sell the highly rated 22-year-old, but only for the right price. Reports suggest that they are looking for around the £10 million mark.

So surely now a negotiation will be reached between the two clubs and this one should be wrapped up by next week.

Chelsea Chief Executive Ron Gourlay has recently stated Chelsea’s desire to purchase top young talents, and they have already added quality young talent to their squad this season, purchasing Eden Hazard, Marko Marin and Oscar Dos Santos. Now they look to add to that with Azpilicueta and Hulk.

The Chelsea transition continues, and with Roman Abramovich’s financial muscle, they are looking to be a real force in European football next season. Rival managers will be watching cautiously.

Chelsea have confirmed Kevin De Bruyne has joined Werder Bremen on a season-long loan.

De Bruyne signed a deal with Chelsea in January for £6.7 million but was loaned back to Genk for the remainder of the season.

The Belgium international has been training with the Blues this summer, but his club have moved to loan him out to ensure he gains further first-team experience.

A statement on Chelsea’s official website read: “The winger will now continue his development in the Bundesliga, where he could expect to replace fellow new Chelsea recruit Marko Marin in the Bremen side.”

De Bruyne is determined to make a success of his time at Werder Bremen. “It’s good that the transfer to Bremen is now completed,” he told the club’s official website.

“SV Werder have a big tradition and play in one of the best leagues in Europe with full stadiums all the time. I would like to prove successful with my new team-mates.”
